Group Leader, Docent

Docent Nina Lindfors studied medicine at Turku University Hospital (1992) and chemical engineering at Åbo Akademi University (1995). She has a doctorate from the University of Helsinki on bioactive glass (2002). She is specialized in orthopedics and hand surgery and works as Director of Teaching and Research at the Department of Musculoskeletal and Plastic Surgery at Helsinki University Hospital (HUS) (2015-) and as a senior lecturer at the University of Helsinki. (2005-).Medical adviser for Bonalive Biomaterials.


Nina is the leader of the FINGLA research group and has a passion for research on bioactive glasses, bone regeneration and infection treatment with a focus on new medical technologies and materials for future healthcare in the field of musculoskeletal and plastic surgery.


Nina likes singing, swimming and studying italian.

Orthopedic 

Robert Björkenheim, doctor of medicine and surgery, specialist in orthopedics and traumatology. Works as an upper extremity orthopedist at HUS. Proud father of two super talented daughters. Leisure interests: ball sports, quiet weekends in the countryside.

Gustav Strömberg, LL, graduated from the Helsinki Faculty of Medicine in 2015 and specializes in hand surgery at HYKS. Hobbies include cooking, exercising and hunting.

Elin Eriksson

Elin Eriksson. Doctoral student at the University of Helsinki, Licensed doctor (M.D.) with a degree from the University of Helsinki in 2021, B.Sc. in accounting and financing from Stockholm University in 2015. Appointed International Year of Glass Future Fellow in Berlin 2022. Currently working as a doctor in gynecology and obstetrics at the Academic Hospital in Uppsala. Everything in life is a research study, just in slightly different ways.
