Docent Nina Lindfors studied medicine at Turku University Hospital (1992) and chemical engineering at Åbo Akademi University (1995) in Finland. She has a doctorate from the University of Helsinki on bioactive glass (2002). She is specialized in orthopedics and hand surgery and works as a physician at Helsinki University Hospital (HUS) and since 2005 as a clinical instructor at the University of Helsinki.

She is the leader of the FINGLA research group and has a passion for research on bioactive glasses, bone regeneration and infection treatment with a focus on new medical technologies and materials for future healthcare in the field of musculoskeletal and plastic surgery.
